As a freshmen, I’m sure most of us can relate to the topic “being a college student”, as we have been in campus for a good few months. Now each of us may experience the college life differently. If you are able to adapt to new environments with diverse people, you may experience the positive side of the campus life, like attending social events, hanging out with friends, and other exciting activities. However people who are more on the introverted side, hard to adapt, they may experience college differently. Faced with educational struggles, this could lead to some people experiencing stress, and even depression.

Did you know that suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students? Having known this fact, we need to start looking into what it is in the college life that could lead to such a tragic outcome. Inability to adapt in such a diverse environment can lead to some people having miss the entire social life experience on campus. Some people who goes into college may also have a history of depression, and losing significant people that has helped them because of having to be in a new environment would have a major impact on their mental state.

This is why we need to be more aware of our surroundings, our friends in our college life. Each and every one of us may have the ability to majorly impact other people’s life, and maybe in some cases even save someone from being a victim of suicide. All in all, always choose kindness is every step we take.
