Corporate Culture can be defined as: “The core values which are the core of the philosophy of working in the organization, which guide all employees in their work so that the company will achieve success in its business“. In his writing entitled “on studying organizational culture”, Andrew Pettigrew said that “An organization is not only seen from its formal aspects but there are informal aspects that influence the success of company performance”.

So what is the relationship between corporate culture and company performance? Corporate culture is a system of social control within an organization so that members of the organization have a culture that is relatively the same. With this relatively similar culture, it is hoped that it will have an impact on ethics and behavior, performance, and the ways of thinking of other members. In the end, the company’s goals will be more effective, because all existing elements can function optimally in their respective fields.

We can see this in the following two illustrations, where there are differences for someone who works in a certain position followed by differences in the purposes of the company field. The first is Firman Chori as a Full Stack Developer, wherein his daily life he is an internal part of the company and rarely involves himself with many people, especially people outside the company directly. Because, the job description does not require that he interacts with many people as often as possible, even if he is not needed, for example, he will only interact with clients who will be met once a week or once a month. Whereas Randy Ramdani is a Funding Officer, we can know that he is a person who works in a bank, whose job is to collect funds from customers, of course, he will be involved in interpersonal communication with many people outside of the people in the company where he works. Therefore, as a person who works directly with external people in the company, of course, it must be very clear to be able to put aside personal life and work needs. Even in a bad mood, whether it comes from personal problems or feelings of annoyance when dealing with customers, still a Bank employee must provide a friendly attitude and be ready to serve customers. Trying to provide the best service and such a good impression for its customers to be satisfied with their work. Because, his job requires him to directly interact with the crowd and people outside the company so that if he clearly shows an unpleasant face and mood, it will affect his job performance.

The second is in terms of corporate culture for dress manners in the corporate environment. A Full Stack Developer who takes care of making websites and HTML program code daily does not need formal clothes like someone who works at a bank. Because the relaxed and calm atmosphere for an IT is more needed than a formal dress complete with company uniform attributes. They are only required to dress modestly and neatly at work. Meanwhile, a Funding Officer who works at a Bank must wear a formal corporate uniform. They must comply with the complete company code of conduct. Because, even before they officially work, as prospective employees at the Bank, they are also required to be given training by the company to understand the code of ethics and Bank regulations.

The third point is that an IT person who spends more time in front of a computer screen in a technician manner will have minimal interaction with other people compared to being a Bank employee who requires a lot of interpersonal interaction. The fewer interactions that are needed and carried out about his job position, the less the burden of conflict between himself and company people is reduced, because technically he is used to working alone and requires little teamwork in his work, except for the division of small teams that is evenly distributed to simply reduce the workload of each individual.  So, the work environment that is most suitable and supports the work performance of an IT developer is from the company itself by providing adequate technology facilities to good quality, such as internet, PC / laptop, server, smartphone (for development/testing needs) and so on. -other. Meanwhile, for a bank employee who in his daily work involves a lot of interaction with other people ranging from peers, superiors-subordinates to customers, there is a greater chance of getting involved in conflict and communication misunderstanding. Therefore, the best environment that supports the work performance of a bank employee is the presence of people who can create mutual respect, mutual understanding, and cooperation and don’t feel jealous of each other. This is because conflicts often arise as a result of people who have their thoughts and points of view, making it easier to cause differences of opinion which can lead to debates and fights.

The fourth point is how the role of the company in building and improving employee work ethics in the workplace is certainly different from the work background and the company background of the two people mentioned above. For an IT developer, the company only needs to supervise employee performance and require two-way communication to create the same meaning of communication. Meanwhile, when working at a bank, a prospective bank employee before he/she officially works will be given several training sessions for employees for 2 weeks to 1 month. So, the training will provide prospective employees with insight into the ethics and rules applied by the company, so that employees know what ethics the company applies and therefore, employees must comply with these rules.

So, the comparison of the two persons along with the two different company backgrounds, it is certain that the ethics and corporate culture that are applied to the work environment and work styles for its employees are different in each company and determine whether the company is able or not to continues to grow even though both of them work together in the office and involve professional communication in their work, we can observe that the scope of the company’s movement, such as one engaged in Finance and the other in Information Technology, is certain to be different ethics and corporate culture.
